EMERGING - Scarabeus Aerial Theatre- Premiering Oct 2022
EMERGING - Scarabeus Aerial Theatre- Premiering Oct 2022
EMERGING centres on the relationship between a trans-son, who has experienced gender dysphoria for as long as he can remember, and his mother, as they embark on a journey into the unknown.

Combining dance, aerial skills and excerpts from letters written to each other, they harness their art to better understand both themselves and each other, as they navigate their relationship and a complex life-changing process.

While sensitively exploring the themes of gender, identity and representation, EMERGING is a universal story about a parent-child relationship, coming of age and independence. It’s an intimate experience of the power of creativity to facilitate profound change.

    SILT by Arbonauts
SILT is a climate responsive, site-specific performance created for a tidal pool on the Essex coast, commissioned as a key piece for Estuary 2021. Imagining how humans might evolve beyond an impending climate disaster, SILT is a performance with a strong dystopian thread, looking at issues of rising sea levels and performed live in the water by a group of community performers. The SILT creative team includes the dancer and choreographer Becky Namgauds and sound artist Lee Berwick who created a bold soundscape using recorded sounds from along the estuary that he played live during the performance. SILT was commissioned by Metal for Estuary 2021 and supported by Arts Council England. SILT took place on 24 & 25 September to a sell-out audience in Shoeburyness, Essex. Photos by Nina Photography

'Quarantaine' (43mins) is a new film by Georgina Starr co-commissioned in 2019 by Film and Video Umbrella, The Hunterian, University of Glasgow, Leeds Art Gallery and Glasgow International. With Art Fund support through the Moving Image Fund for Museums. Supported by Arts Council England.

'Quarantaine' is Georgina Starr’s most ambitious film project to date. Its title refers to the French word for forty, and also alludes to the period of enforced isolation commonly known as quarantine. In Celtic mythology ‘une quarantaine’ begins on the first full moon of spring - a liminal and dangerous occasion when the barriers between the Earthly world and the Spirit world are temporarily dissolved.
